Vice President of Professional Development

The Graduate & Professional Student Association (GPSA) is the official student government that represents all ASU graduate and professional students. GPSA is looking for a graduate student to fill the Vice President for Professional Development position for the 2017-2018 academic year. This is an excellent opportunity to develop and apply professional skills, build your CV, and serve fellow graduate students.

This position is held from August 25, 2017 through May 8, 2018 and requires a 10-20 hours a week work commitment. The VP PD reports directly to GPSA’s elected leadership, and is compensated with a 7,000 dollar scholarship ($3,750 a semester).

Responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing planning of Graduate Student Appreciation Week, Interdisciplinary Research Symposium, professional development events, and social events
  • Manage the budget of the Office of the Vice President of Professional Development and the awards budget
  • Oversee Teaching Excellence, Mentoring, Advocacy, and Research awards programs
  • Serves on the executive committee
  • Chair the Professional Development Committee and host monthly meetings
  • Attend Assembly meetings (8/25, 9/22,10/20, 11/17, 1/19, 2/16, 3/23, 4/20)

To be eligible, you must be a graduate/professional student at ASU and enrolled in at least one unit of graduate student study during the fall and spring semesters of the 2017-2018 academic year.
