Breaking: Opposing the Tax Reform Bill… What can you do?

Congress has proposed a tax reform bill that will have a substantial impact on institutions of higher education and graduate-professional students. The plan will allow for tuition waivers and stipends to be included as taxable income. This will have a significant impact on students receiving support to pursue their degree. Please join us in a Call Congress day this Wednesday, November 8 to let our representation know we oppose the proposed tax plan.

For at least the next two weeks, we will need everyone sharing posts, tweeting, and emailing everyone you know who may be affected. Speaker Paul Ryan has stated that Congress is on track to have this tax reform passed before Thanksgiving, that means we all need to make our voices heard immediately!

There will be a call center located in the Tempe Graduate Student Center from 9am-5pm on 11/8. Materials will be on hand to help you with making the calls. As this is an evolving situation please note that information continues to come in regarding the status of this bill, and we are communicating to you everything we know to-date. There will be future call centers on the other campuses as well. Stay posted for upcoming dates and times.
