New Threat to Higher Education Affordability

Last semester, ASU graduate students came together and helped affect change in proposed policy at the national level; together we kept graduate students and higher education safe from harmful provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Now, it is time to come together again to keep higher education affordable, accessible, and safe. We need your help in urging our lawmakers to make changes to The PROSPER Act. As currently written, it will:

• Eliminate Grad PLUS Loans and Perkins Loans
• Eliminate Public Service Loan Forgiveness
• Cap loans at $28.5K per year, and $150K in total!
• Hold universities less accountable for safety and sexual assault making campuses less safe
• Eliminate Subsidized Stafford Loans
• Eliminate Work Study for Grad Students…

And that’s only part of it! Help the ASU GPSA and the NAGPS keep college and graduate school affordable and attainable! Join the National Call to Congress on March 1 at ASU Downtown and ASU West from 11:30am-1:30pm, and on March 2 at ASU Tempe and ASU Poly from 11:30am-1:30pm. See below for details!
