LaTeX is a typesetting language that helps you prepare documents. If you use word and hate setting the fonts, page styles, page indents and all that terrible stuff, LaTeX handles all that for you. As an author, you only have to worry about content and LaTeX handles the rest (including table of contents, references, bibliographies, tables, images etc.)
The workshop will cover preparing technical documents like reports, dissertations and journal articles as well as brochures, flyers and novels (for self publishing). All you will need is a computer and access to the internet.
